We get asked all of the time, "When should I book my newborn photography session?" It's a great question and the answer is it's never too early! We suggest booking your professional newborn session at the beginning of your third trimester. Of course, we are not booking your actual session date because we know that babies come when they want to! This booking will get you on the calendar and guarantee that you will get a session date within the first two weeks after your baby's birth. Coming into the Greensboro studio within the first two weeks is important. During those early days, babies are still very flexible, curly, womb-like, and can easily form into those sweet poses that you see in newborn images. They also sleep more in those first two weeks and their sleep is more predictable during this time.
With that being said, even though it is "ideal" to photograph a newborn between 5 and 14 days old, that doesn't mean that you can't get adorable newborn images after that time frame. We CAN and we DO! After two weeks, babies tend to be awake more and wake easier during transitions so we may capture more awake images and not as many sleepy, curly images.
We know just how quickly babies change, and although we prefer for families to book the newborn session before the baby arrives, we certainly understand there are circumstances when you can't. Not to worry! Your baby is special and worthy of being professionally photographed and we will be able to capture priceless images of them that will become family heirlooms.
